Three sentence movie reviews: Things We Lost in the Fire
Every once in a great while I come across a movie where the characters feel like real people, not things created to tell a story. This is such a movie, and what well-written/acted/directed movie. The story of the widow and the heroin addict is well worth watching.

I love it when I find movies like that too!
It’s shocking how frequently writers (of both movies and books) create characters that are just that: characters. I may be guilty of that too. I suppose it’s simply difficult to capture how people truly are. Also, real life people tend to be way more boring than characters.
I was always a bit neutral on Benicio del Toro, until I saw him in Sicario. Now I have a lot of respect for him.
I think it’s hard too, because people are so complex and to capture everything your plot would get lost in the shuffle.
I have loved Benicio del Toro for a long time now, and this just kept the love going.
