Three sentence movie reviews: Winter’s Tale
The book on which this movie is based is 748 pages, so it wasn’t very surprising to me that I had more than a few moments of “what in god’s name is happening?” This is a great movie for people who like to look at Colin Farrell; for people not so much into just watching a movie to look an actor, you might find yourself alternating between confusion and complete boredom. Given the number of stars packed into this movie, I suspect this was destined to be a hit and entirely missed the mark.

It’s weird, because I do think Colin Farrell is handsome, but I also think he’s a pretty decent actor, so I wouldn’t want to see a movie just to look at his face. I’d be too disappointed that he didn’t give a good performance. Wait, Russell Crowe is in it? Pass.

Thanks for this. I wondered if Russell Crowe was singing his lines as bad as he did in Les Mis, but then I realized he was attempting an accent…which was worse than his singing. I think this movie was trying to be the Time Traveler’s Wife without the wife and a dash of the Notebook (here’s my lovely daughter, she’s deathly ill so she lives in a tent out back; spared no expense). I appreciated Colin Farrell’s full commitment to exposition whilst talking to his fairy godhorse.
