Three sentence movie reviews: Persuasion (BBC)
Part of the Ruby Oliver Film Festival.
This version of the Jane Austin novel has more running than a Tom Cruise movie! I greatly enjoyed this tale of love lost, a deserving heroine and a convenient school friend who eagerly rounds up all hanging plot points in one breathless soliloquy. I’m guessing it doesn’t happen that way in the book.

The movie versions both stick pretty close to the book, although the 1995 version is a bit more accurate if I recall correctly. I absolutely love this story. Who wouldn't enjoy a movie about second chances & about a good woman who, after suffering indignities in silence for far too long, finally gets to have something nice for herself? It's really lovely.
Oh Wentworth, he is a handsome catch! This Anne is also so good as she is so sympathetic and yet so persuadable! I own this particular DVD, I enjoy it so much.
I was so thrilled when Masterpiece/BBC came out with all of these new versions a couple years ago. They were all quite true to the books in such delightful ways. The casting, as with most BBC productions, was excellently done in all of them as well!
