Three sentence movie reviews: The Grand Budapest Hotel

 In Three Sentence Movie Reviews

This had everything I like in a Wes Anderson movie, but I can’t say I liked it.  Maybe I was tired, but the plot didn’t grab me and I kept closing my eyes for brief periods.   The acting was good, the sets were good, the costumes were there, the sense of whimsy was present, but it just didn’t work for me.

Cost:  Free thanks to Oscar Party winning prize.
Where watched:  Regal Lloyd Center 10, with S. North.

I don't know if I can do Wes Anderson films anymore. I used to love him but now the strangeness and whimsy just kind of irritates me. Perhaps it's a phase. Maybe I'll fall back in love with independent film making in the future.

I quite enjoyed it, but I can see what you are saying. There were a few grating moments that just didn't quite shine like the rest. I loved everything else, as you said, and the cameos always make his films a delight!
